Mandy started boxing at the age of 16 at the Waterloo Regional Boxing academy under her coach Rick Cadilha. She started training just to get in shape until coaches convinced her to enter in a local tournament in Brampton. Since then she has gone on and won the provincials and then the nationals in her 51kg weight division. Things just seemed to fall in place for Mandy with her hard work and dedication to the sport and since then she has now been representing Canada as a part of the senior national team for 5 years. Winning her most recent National title in Saint Hyacinthe, Quebec on January 30th, 2010.
Mandy has travelled all around the world to compete in boxing and is ranked in the top 4 in the world amature standings for her division.
Last August female boxing was accepted as an olympic sport and will make its debut at the 2012 London games. Female boxing will be represented by 3 weight divisions 51kg, 60kg and 75kg with 12 females per division. Mandy now has her focus set on making the 2012 Olympic team.
This year Mandy will be competing at the Pan American Championships in Venezula and the world championships in the Barbados, she will use these events to prepare for the Olympics.
